We have grouping changes for the 2017 FATT Season
2017 FATT Group Definitions:
Group 1 – Novice
All instructed. Experience level is 0 to 3 track days. Students need instruction when on track. Passing is limited to Turns 1 to 3, 9 to 10, and 10 to 1 with point-bys.
Group 2 – Intermediate
All instructed. Experience level minimum 3 days on track. Students in this group need instruction to improve line and technique, but have begun to recognize mistakes. Passing is same as Group 1, but add turn 3-4 passing zone.
Group 3 – Advanced Intermediate
Instructor Optional. Similar to current Group 2I, but these students are capable of being solo. They show awareness of lags, consistent line and car placement, but may not be very fast. NOTE: Passing is still with point by but adding turns 4 to 5.
Group 4 – Advanced Solo
These students have shown high level of awareness and rarely make mistakes. Operate at a high rate of speed and remain calm on track even in tight situations. Least restrictive passing. A pass may occur anywhere that wheels are straight with a point-by. Approval required before registration.
Additional Passing Rules:
In all groups except Solo Group 4 a pass must be completed before a brake zone. In Group 4 a late pass with point by into a brake zone is acceptable with clear point by. So a pass into 1 or 5 braking area is perfectly acceptable as long as it is complete before the turn.
Winter Autocross Series for 2016-2017!
We are happy to announce the return of a popular winter autocross series using various tracks at Summit Point Motorsports Park. Each date will be two different half-day autocrosses for two heats each. Register for morning-only or all day, because there are no work assignments (unless you choose that option for a discount) – just drive time! Registration will be limited so everyone gets plenty of runs. Touring laps on main circuit at lunchtime are now available at each event also.
Entered cars must pass a BSR safety tech inspection and must be driven in/street legal (i.e. no racecars, no slicks.) Car classing is basic: Street or Comp, FWD or RWD or AWD, under 2.5L NA or over 2.5L/all FI. Or Novice class of course – these events are great for first timers. There is no cheaper or easier way to run for times on a real road course!
